Back from the UK!
THE GOOD NEWS AND LUCY IN THE WILD ARE ALREADY DONE - DAN FROM THE PAST
I wish I would have seen this before I wrote crappy substitutes. — Present Day Lucy
Dear Reader,
My brother Dan, who usually assembles the newsletter, is on a well-deserved vacation, so please enjoy the hot mess that is me trying to cobble one together without knowing he already did most of the work (hence the note at the top).
Now, on to your regularly scheduled newsletter!
On the heels of last week’s greenlight announcement from Amazon MGM Studios (yay!), I’m home from a lovely book tour in the UK with authors Meghan Quinn and Liz Tomforde! A delightful time was had by all.
I thought you might enjoy a couple of behind-the-scenes pictures.

Bookstores were visited, snacks were consumed, and readers were hugged. It was a spectacular trip hosted by Hodder & Stoughton’s Midnight Books.
And we also had the pleasure of a dinner out with the one, the only EL James!
Now I’m home for the summer with lots to, do including wedding planning! Stay tuned!
Xoxo,
Lucy
LUCY IN THE WILD

As you noted above, I didn’t know Dan had finished the next two sections before he left for vacation. So I had already cobbled something together and even though it’s half-assed, I didn’t want it to go to waste...
Unfortunately for me, Dan is the one who knows where all the Lucy in the Wild photos are. So this week we’re just going to give a shoutout to the anonymous reader my nephew—who is also on Dan’s well-deserved vacation—spotted at the pool reading Things We Hide from the Light. I hope Nash and Lina made her vacation even better!
GOOD NEWS
Boston-based nonprofit Team IMPACT is celebrating fifteen years of pairing youth with disabilities and sports teams, having matched more than 4500 children during that time.
A second grade teacher from Arkansas helps one of her students find her forever home. 😭
This dad creates a core memory with his son. 😂
Guess I’ll be winging this section too (again, I really didn’t have to if I would have just opened up the newsletter first so that’s on me) since I don’t know where we keep our stockpile of good news articles.
I don’t know if most of you know this, but I grew up in a soccer household. I played (poorly) for ten years. My dad coached and reffed. I got to see the women’s national team play in New Jersey when I was a kid.
But this year’s World Cup is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. It’s not the actual matches, it’s the worldwide fandoms descending on the United States that has filled my Instagram feed with wholesome moments.
Like this story about how the Algerian team has been welcomed to their host city of Lawrence, Kansas.
Or this Reel of Scotland’s Tartan Army marching to Fenway Park for a day of baseball, hot dogs, and beer.
Or the Dutch taking over Dallas.
See how much better Dan makes this newsletter? If we had to put up with me doing this every week it would be a disaster that no one would read.
I miss you, Dan! Come back from vacation!
