Entertaining Lucy Score
Dear Reader,
Since I’m between books, I’ve been entertaining myself with things other people created! In addition to my beloved Shoresy TV show, here are my current top favorites…
Rivals on Disney+ and Hulu: Based on Dame Jilly Cooper’s Rutshire Chronicles series, Rivals is a soapy, sexy drama set in 1980s England. It’s all big hair, big egos, and big money. Oh, and lots of pining! I love it!
Ponies on Peacock: This is a Cold War spy show centered on the widows of two murdered CIA agents in 1970s Moscow. Holy heart-pounding suspense, you guys! There’s just one season of this show, but it was amazing.
Your Friends and Neighbors on Apple TV+: This one is a comedy-drama with a star-studded cast centered around Jon Hamm, who accidentally becomes a thief after losing his finance job. If you love a good bromance, you’ll appreciate this show!
Voicemails for Isabelle on Netflix: This brand-new movie has single-handedly resuscitated the rom-com genre. It’s so good. Like SO GOOD. I cried multiple times and laughed out loud all the times I wasn’t crying. It’s extremely well-done and delivers all the feels, not to mention a top-tier playlist.
Toronto Airport Uncovered on Hulu: For my fellow nerds, Mr. Lucy and I love a good behind-the-scenes docuseries. We’re only two episodes into this one, but we’re nerding out over it. Did you know that many major airports have their own falconry programs to keep the airport land free of birds? Yeah, me neither!
Off Campus on Prime Video: I know I don’t even need to list this because we’ve all already watched it and loved it, but this show—based on author Elle Kennedy’s sports romance series—is sweet, spicy, and bingeable. I loved it! Even Mr. Lucy got into it!
As for books, I just finished The Dungeon Anarchist’s Cookbook (book three in the Dungeon Crawler Carl series by Matt Dinniman) audiobook. I love this series (Dan, seriously, you need to start this one so we can talk about it). It’s funny Hunger Games with a rough-around-the-edges protagonist who always tries to do the right thing. The audio narrator is fantastic!
I also read Elin Hilderbrand’s 28 Summers at the recommendation of my sister-in-law (thanks a lot for all the tears, Amber) and The Bodyguard by Katherine Center (great recommendation, Nikki).
I’m currently in the middle of Variation by Rebecca Yarros!
That’s all from me this week because I’m definitely not going to complain to you about how Meghan Quinn asked me to start watching Love Island UK so we could discuss. Thanks to my superhuman secondhand embarrassment sensitivity, I’ve never done reality TV before, and it’s been an eye-opening experience!
I hope your summer (or winter) is off to a great start. Get ready for some exciting Riley Thorn news coming soon!
Xoxo,
Lucy

GOOD NEWS
A New Brunswick woman has been collecting, repairing, and donating bicycles to children in need for 14 years. (Audio Newsletter Dan note: I love bicycles, so this makes me very happy!) 🥰
A woman who helped rescue an injured crow has been receiving “gifts” ever since.
Kindness from a neighbor makes these kids’ day. 😂
I have bronchitis AGAIN. Do I need to worry that it’s the second round in six months? I’m not happy. But at least this time I went straight to the doctor. Fun Fact: Medicine helps. Whoda thunk it?
