I met Ted Lasso!
Dear Reader,
Last weekend, my brother and sister-in-law graciously took Madison’s boys for the weekend so Mr. Lucy, Madison, Mr. Madison, and I could travel to Kansas City.
While the Northern Pennsylvania Scores colored and rode the four-wheeler, the rest of the family ate BBQ and went to Big Slick, where we met a few celebrities while supporting Children’s Mercy Hospital and their work in pediatric cancer!
It was there, with a belly full of burnt ends, that I finally achieved my dream of meeting Jason Sudeikis and telling him how much his show Ted Lasso has meant to me. (If you haven’t watched it, go check it out on Apple TV+!)
This officially overwrites my previous Ted Lasso fan experience of stumbling across the filming production when we were in London a few years ago and getting to walk through set between takes.
Sometimes, I’m amazed at what can happen in a reasonably small amount of time.
In 2020, I was glued to my TV, binge-watching Season One of Ted Lasso an embarrassing number of times.
In 2022, I was squealing in the rain watching the cast and crew film the “Hey Jude” scene from season three.
In 2026, I was blathering like a nervous fangirl in Jason Sudeikis’s face.
Another crazy example of what can happen in a few years?
In 2012, I read Fifty Shades of Grey. It ignited the idea that maybe I could be an author too.
In 2022, I met EL James (she is an absolute delight and a stellar human being) at an author conference in London (Wow! A lot of good things happen to me in London!).
In 2026, Penguin Random House sent ME an early copy of the anniversary edition of Fifty Shades of Grey that releases this month!
I can’t wait to see what happens in London when I’m there next week (and Bath, and Manchester, and Edinburgh)!
Xoxo
Lucy
